-I have done anime shadowing almost every week

-I have listened to Japanese renditions of Disney songs and the Phantom of the Opera soundtrack
Goals:
Speed - to increase the speed with which I am able to speak and understand the language
Pronunciation - to sound more fluent and natural when speaking
Intonation - to correctly use sentence intonation and word pitch when speaking

- Go to しばたせんせい's office hours at least once a month to practice and correct my speaking

Why I took Japanese
Hello everyone! My name is Ashley Berland, and I am from Stanford, CT. I decided to take Japanese as my language at Princeton University for several reasons. 一, I tried to take Spanish in middle school and high school, but did not feel that I learned or enjoyed it enough to continue learning the language. 二, I have taken martial arts for twelve years, and
as a result, have fallen in love with the culture. 三, I am looking into a career in potentially
in business and this language would be incredibly helpful. I am most excited about learning
how to read and write in Japanese. I found trying to remember the different terms and
pronouciations to be the most difficult. I am definitely looking forward to learning Japanese!
